Hello All,

Ok looking for some input here. I am in the process of waiting for my PAL/RPAL....had my interview yesterday actually so it will hopefully be sooner than later.

Anyway.....I know I need to join a club and am in the process of figuring out what I'm gonna do with that.

Now....as far as I know, it is the club I join that will apply for the ATT on my behalf correct? How long does that process take and what does it involve?

As well....should I join a club now even though I can't shoot yet to start the probation clock ticking and get any necessary observations (if applicable) out of the way so I'm ready to go as soon as I can?

Am I missing anything else?

I'm looking for any advice etc. here. Thanks a bunch for reading and replying...have a great weekend.

SCC,

The club will apply the LTATT on your behalf. That would only happen if you already have the restricted f/a with you. Waiting time would be 3 weeks (my case in Ontario). But I really don't know the exact waiting period as when I have joined the club, I submitted my LTATT application. I think they had to send it by batch so it took 3 weeks for me.

As for joining the club with probation period, my club needs 12 sign-offs and in probation for a year to be a regular member.

"...How long does that process take and what does it involve?..." Depends on the club. You have to do yet another club level range safety course(required by Ontario's CPFO for no apparent reason), then the club secretary(usually) sends the paperwork for the ATT. Nothing new about it though.
"...should I join a club now..." Might as well. Ontario won't let you have a restricted firearm without belonging to a club anyway. Policy, not law. Burlington's a good place to be when it comes to clubs. Lots of 'em reasonable close.

Both my wife and I got restricted transfers this year without belonging to a club. We weren't even in the process of joining one. These were our first firearms. Had no problems and the transfers were done in 48 hours(through a store not a private sale if that makes any difference)
