I bought a glock 17 on saturday from a shop in lantz, MY first handgun :) Haveing to wait to bring it home is killing me :( So they try to register it and its already in transfer, they had sold it and started the transfer and not sure what happened, the guy didn't take the gun, they gave him his money back, so they need to get that striaghted out, then get it in my name. So anyway i joined the mvrrc the same day. Peter at the range tells me to take the papers he gave me in to the cfc and get a LTATT. at the shop the guy tells me it will be a day or two before the paper work is done. i ask how the ATT works he tells me they take care of it and it will come in the mail the day or so after the reg. ?? so what is the procedure for getting a LTATT in nova scotia?? i have searched it on here found stuf for every other province. this sucks i am off today. i could be at the range :(

You will probably get a 1 year ATT for the first year you are a member. After you join the club for another year this will show that shooting wasn't just a passing fancy and they will most likely give you a LTATT for the duration of your RPAL.
That's how it worked for me the first year I joined.

i know already i will only get a year, but what do i have to do to get the LTATT?? do i go into the cfc or does the shop take care of it all and its mailed to me??

1. You need to be a member of the gun club (if you are not already). Typically when you join you will get the membership card and the club recommendation letter form for LTATT for a year.
1. You buy the gun.
2. When the transfer is completed, you will get the transfer letter. Then you call CFC at 1 800 731-4000 (menu choice 5), tell them your transfer number and ask for temporary ATT to get it home from the seller at the time convenient for you. They will give you the temporary ATT number over the phone. It will be valid for a few hours - just enough to get the gun home. The letter also will list your gun registration certificate number, the certificate itself you will get by a separate letter (maybe a week later) You don't need to wait for the actual certificate to come for just getting the gun home.
4. You get the gun home.
5. You fill the LTATT recommendation form from the club AND this form:
http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca/online-en_ligne/form-assistance/indiv_forms/679_e.asp
and get these two forms to the Provincial CFO office (or fax them)

Provincial Firearms Office
5151 Terminal Road, Ground Floor
P.O. Box 7
Halifax, Nova Scotia
B3J 2L6
Phone: (902) 424-6689 Fax (902) 424-4308

and you’ll be all set.

3-5 business days to process your LTATT.
It will come with a list of your registered guns and conditions for your LTATT. (That is why you buy at least one gun first, before you get LTATT. Each time you buy a new gun you will get this list updated.)

The NS CFPO is very quick. Once you have the paperwork completed and back to them, you should have the LT-ATT inside a week. They frequently do restricted transfers in the same day and the updated LT-ATT and buyer/seller notice will often come in the same envelope. Your best bet, if you are uncertain, is to call them. When I first moved to NS and joined a club, I gave them a call and they walked my through it. A very good bunch over there.

do what Peter told you to do, you are probably already holding the Gun Club Rec and an ATT application in your hand .The shop that is selling you the gun will look after the short term ATT so you can pick up the firearm to take it home.

If you call into the HRM firearms office, ask for Dianne, tell her Seth sent you.

Tell her I said she's the best they've got and a sweetheart to boot.

LTATT should arrive shortly. ;)

I have no advice to offer, these guys really know there stuff.

I just wanted to let you know that if you bought the olive drab framed G17 from Hnatiuk's that I fondled it in the store before you took her home ;)
