Depends on the club for duration.

My club submits the LTATT to expire when your RPAL does.

In Ontario, your LTATT should be good for all CFO approved Ranges.
If you go to the Gunsmith with the Receiver, a Department of Defence Club, Border Crossing , other Province etc. you need to call the CFO for a Short Term ATT for that specific instance.

If you are not in Ontario, you get the ATT at the same time as you are registering your first restricted. Your club is not involved, but you will have to provide proof of membership. This is true for Alberta, as well as the other Western Provinces IIRC.

I acquired my RPAL within the past 6 months in Ontario,I am about 1 hour east of Toronto along Lake Ontario,I belong to NPRC. First off once I had my RPAL I could buy and sell restricted firearms before I was a member of any club, each time I made a purchase and the transfer was complete, then the CFO issued a temp ATT to allow me to bring the firearm from the dealer/seller to my home address, the temp ATT's allowed from 2-3 weeks for the transporting process at a daily set time of 6:00-23:59hrs,once the firearms is at my residence, the temp ATT is now invalid, and my firearms can't leave my residence. The CFO would ask me the club I belonged to,I said I plan on joining NPRC,the CFO did not ask for any proof!

Next I completed my range safety course, did my required 3 months probationary period,at this point the club applied and acquired my long term ATT for me, now I can take my registered restricted firearms from my address to any restricted range in Onatrio approved by the Ont CFO daily from 0:00-23:59, my ATT is valid for 2 years.

In Ontario,we have to have a short term ATT to take the firearms to a dealer,or anywhere else besides from our home address and approved ranges.

I recently wanted to trade a handgun in,so the dealer said to apply for a appraisal ATT,this was easy and quick,I called the CFO, told them my plan, gave them a fax number, and within 2 minutes I had my temp ATT which allowed me a ONE day ATT to take my firearm to the dealer AND back to my home. The dealer said a different temp ATT is required if the gun is going to the dealer for service and is actually staying there for any period of time.

Definately alot of:bsFlag:

thanks met, that cleared it up for me as well. However, the RCMP that did the transfer told me to wait for a letter in the mail with the temp transfer permit from the seller to me and it has taken forever to get. almost 3 weeks now. maybe ill call back and find out if they can get it faxed asap

dougie

just for a update

rcmp can issue the temp after the approval. So litterally the same day should could of sent my temp.

I spoke with cfo. make it and faxed it in 3 minutes. not to mention he was really cool and filled me in on alot of the paperwork behind it all.
