Hey Everyone,

Apologies if this has been asked and answered before. I searched and I couldn't see an answer.

I've been wondering something: a friend of mine shoots on his property up north - it's legal in his area and he has a nice range set up.

Is it possible to get an ATT to go to a farm in order to shoot restricted? I'm in Ontario and I understand that an ATT will cover shooting ranges within a specified distance, but what about non-official ranges?

I'm trying not to cause him a huge headache by drawing undo attention to the fact that he's shooting on his property - which is legal, but once you bring the government into something...

Thanks,

Brendan

That's not exactly correct.

One can get an ATT for a plethora of reasons, including for sale or consignment, and for temporary storage, and both of those are options - provided that you are not going to be shooting - even if the destination is not an approved shooting range.

Didn't know it was legal to shoot restricted outside of an approved range. Is this Ontario only or allowed in other provinces like BC?

The op was asking if he could get an ATT for shooting on a farm, not getting a smith to fix a firearm.

I think the point Wendell was making is just that the OP could get an ATT for transport to the farm (ie: temporary storage). It would of course not be legal to shoot it there, however.

It is NOT illegal to fire a restricted firearm at an unapproved range! Your going to get nailed with illegal transportation/possession/failure to obtain a ATT.

On your ATT application, section C, sub option O: Target Practice at unapproved range.

LOL

No you would never, ever get it approved but if the CFO was in a good mood that day...

Instead of saying that, I should have just said this:
