+++++ ATTENTION: Remington 887 RECALL +++++

Well, that blows... but thanks for the info, OP.

However, what's up with providing them your name, address, telephone, date of birth, height, weight, hair and eyes color, pants size and ###ual orientation prior to being able to verify whether or not your serial # is affected? The serial number range should simply be listed on the website for people to verify on their own, like so many other manufacturers have done in the past (that's how I knew my .223 CSA vz58 would NOT accept the Ar15 mag adapter and had to send it in for a free mod paid by CSA). Smells fishy... like Remington is building a database to send spam e-mails and/or telemarketing calls.

...or perhaps Remington is secretly building a "backdoor registry", one sh*tty product at a time?

:rolleyes:

(just when I almost convinced myself that buying an 887 over an 870 was *maybe* not the worst decision I've ever made and was about to test the f****ng thing at a range soon, THIS happens!)

I am not at all surprised at the recall, and even without it, I was far less than impressed with the 887. I have only handled a couple 887s, and the action is about as rough as the 710 rifle. As well, there were issues ejecting fired hulls from the ones that people were using at out trap&skeet club.
