Bought a new gun and was out patterning it today, had good patterns, then one was horrible. Looked around a bit and found the wad pictured below. Glad it was not a big tom in front of me. At the per shell price you pay, you would think they could load them right. One wing on the wad was folded down into the base, I`ll bet the full payload was not present in that shell either.

Would not be the first time I saw this. Got a Sabot shell with only 1/2 the sabot. Their mass produced, machines screw up!!!!!

Get in contact with the manufacture. I did it just as a curtisy, and they gave me a coupon for a free box.
No biggy, #### happens

like you said at least there was no tom in front of you.I have had cheap trap shells that were full of problems but the only way to know for sure is to do it your self.what kind of shot gun did you get?

I use Winchester XX 2ox 3" #5's in my Winchester 22" Turkey gun and I have found that these exact shells perform better in my gun (and King City Choke) than:

Winchester 3" HV #6
Federal flight control #5
Winchester Xtended range #6
Kent Turkey #5
Hevi13 #6

You just have an outlier....these things happen even with the best of QA.

P.S. I see a lot of 3.5" shell users....may I ask why? I have been out shot by a 20 GA 3" shell (with a high quality choke/gun/shell combo) - you think your 3.5" will do for you other than dislocate your sholder? Guys this is not a 'size matters contest'

No but it is very much a more shot is better contest.

I second that. I've always used 3" shells, but this year am switching to 3 1/2" for that very reason. For the one or two shots you may get, I'll take the abuse (and a premium recoil pad makes a big difference).
