sonner or later, the case feeder on the Lee 1000 and Loadmaster is going to fail- or more specifically , the CYLINDER AND PLATE assembly- this is because lee uses a 6x32 phillips screw and spring to hold the cylinder to the plate( look in the center of the cylinder, you'll see it with the tubes removed) they simply tapped the plate for 6x32 and being plastic, after a certain number of turns, it's going to round out and spring to pieces- THE TIME TO CURE THIS IS NOW- before the spring launches the screw and itself into neverland and lee "makes" you buy a new cylinder and plate assembly- about 16 bucks us-
first, take the cylinder and plate off your press and take it apart, carefully, so you don't lose the screw/spring
2-use a 3/32 drill and drill through the center screw hole slowly till you clear the bottom of the plate
3 turn the plate over and you'll see that you'll have to remove a bit of the collar ( where the casing drops through) to get 6-32 nut to seat properly- i used a dremel to do this- you just need to nip it a little and there's a lot of meat on that collar anyway
4- put a 6-32x1 1/2 screw( i used a robertson from canadian tire) on the spring and then insert the works into the center of the cylinder- then screw the screw down till you get just get through the bottom of the plate, then holding the nut in place, screw down till you get the right tension between the plate and cylinder- you want to be able to turn it so it clicks in place
then cut the excess off the nut- this last bit is a bit of a tough go, but it's worth it

I just inspected this component on my Loadmaster, and I can't see it causing me a problem anytime soon.
I have replaced one or two 'self-tapping" Phillips screws on my Lee Turret press from time to time (such as on the plastic clamp at the bottom of the auto-indexing rod) with a machine screw and nut, but so far everything on the Loadmaster seems ok.

i've had it happen on all 3 of my 1000 and noticed the same assy on the loadmaster- it gets real sloppy with full tubes and begins to lean over to one side, and it won't tighten anymore- or the screw itself breaks off right in the hole- (happened once)that's why i posted- mine are older 1000- circa 1990 or so- and i've got collaters on all three-so it may be the weight of the collater- it happened first on the 9mm, then the 45, and just yesterday on the 223- so i figured it has to be happening to others-now does anybody have a cure for 44 mags sticking in the tubes?right now i'm using a cleaning rod to push them down to the bottom- seems to stick about halfway down-
