I designed a SA Mg-42 some time ago. We even had our two pre-production guns approved by the CFC, they are on the FRT.
For the money we would have to sink into the project it is not practical.
I hate to rain on your parade BUT there is a lot more involved than just making "a new receiver" two and a half years and thousand of dollars later we had what we wanted. That is end up with a gun that fires from a closed bolt and can NOT accept full auto parts or components.
If anyone out there wants to do the deal, e mail me. The project is for sale.

I'm not sure if it's kosher with you to talk about this in a public forum but I figured others might be thinking the same thing.
I was talking with some buddies and we are interested in possibly building a one off version of a semi mg 42.
Just a few questions about your design.
First. What tools would be required to fabricate the parts? I have access to a apprentice machinist and some machines but nothing too state of the art.
Second. How hard would a homebuilt mg 42 be to register. You state that there is already a FRT for it but would it still apply to a firearm built by an average joe and not a manufacturer?
Lastly and most important. Will you sell the plans to myself to produce a one off firearm?
