In this day and age being a nerd with cool stuff like firearms is much better than the old connotations. I am a Winchester nerd and know next to nothin about Remmies, so need some help from the 'other' side.

What's going rate for a model 14 1/2 in 44-40? Looks like a 1913 manufacture 14 1/2 rifle with full length mag (two retaining bands), good barrel, push button bolt release.

My only concerns from the limited info on the net is that the full pistol grip cheek rest is not correct and the bolt looks like it has light jewelling.

Any help and info would be greatly appreciated.

Years ago I had a 14 1/2 44-40 rem as you describe. It had a pistol grip stock though no cheek rest. They don't bring a lot of money here in Ontario roughly 300-600 depending on condition as yours appears to not be original I would suspect it would be somewhere in the lower end of that range?? They are slightly more valuable than the
14's and 141's for sure those rifles sell for about 300-350 here. Good luck RAndy

Can you post some pics for us?

The jeweling, checkering and cheekpiece all sound like mods to me. You can check the Remington Society forum and see if something there resembles what you have there too.
A fellow there by name of Tom Hemphill has a large database on the 14&14 1/2's and would be more than happy to hear from you and help out. Great guy!
Check on the side of the barrel for a Dominion stamp too. More for fun, doesn't make it worth more.
Rumors fly my Great Grandfather had one of those rifle's but in 38-40. Yet to be confirmed but just as well, last thing we need is another gun here....
"canuck" here might be able to help you too, I think he has one.

*Edit* Looks like you found all the dirt in the milsurp forum for this one, at least I was telling you the truth! LOL
