I bought this Cooey 12 Ga.Mod.840 for a light Grouse Gun.
The other day,I was warned that my hunting area had Bear & Wolf so I wanted to take some Slugs & SSGs along.
I found some 3" shells but the Bbl.only says,"PROOF TESTED FULL CHOKE."
The chamber measures 4.25" from the Breach end of the Bbl. to the forcing cone.
What is it,,,2 3/4 or 3 " Gun ?? :)

Is there a gunsmith in your area that has a chamber length gauge? I thought that the 840 was 3 inch capable, but it's best to make sure. I'd hate to say that it's OK to shoot with 3 inch and find out later that the barrel is pooched.

Regardless of what chamber your gun is, it is not a good idea to use slugs in a full choke gun.

No problem Leg,,the Slugs are Challenger and are advertised as being safe in any choked gun.
The real concern here are the 3 " SSGs...
I know the simple solution is to only use 2 3/4 " shells but it would be nice to know if the gun is a 3 "er.
