August 2013 Purchases

1900 MLE MK1*. The bore is slightly dark but otherwise in good shape, it has an early SMLE mag installed but the cut off is correct. The bolt is mismatched but the headspace is good. The nest part is the sling it came with is an original MLE sling!

This one is going to get restored one day. Found the bolt dust cover already, now I just need a nosecap and barrel band.

Very nice. I just ordered a 1912 model with a Soderin sight from Trade Ex Canada with 100 139gr FMJ/BT bullets and brass casings. I'm really excited to shoot it next weekend.

My new Swedish Mauser Model 1896 built in 1899. Beautiful condition with a Faldt diopter sight. Looking forward to shooting this at long range alongside my K31.

I was either going to get a Swedish M96 or a K11/K31. I couldn't find a die set anywhere for 7.5 Swiss, so I thought it might be nice to try something outside of .22 or .30 cal and ended up with the M96. These are beautiful rifles, though. Too bad I couldn't get the dies.

Saved this very nice Schmidt-Rubin Karabiner 31. Otherwise it would have been destroyed.

My 1916 RSAF SMLE

Courtesy of Nabs, my SMLE and bayonet. I have been looking for a SMLE the same year as my great-grandfather enlisted to join the CEF.

Hadn't planned on it, but rifled (ha!) through a box of SVT-40s today. Decided I was buying one before even realized I was digging through the crate haha. Picked one, then found a nicer one, then at the third to last gun left in the box to look at, I found it. The last two didn't even compare.

1940 Izhevsk, no sniper notch, but in an AVT40 stock that didn't have one visible stock repair anywhere. Thick trigger guard, no hole in the safety switch, 2 port muzzle brake, plumb bolt and crisp Tula star and "A" on the stock.

Beside my "bubba'd" 1940 Tula Sniper 6 port that had the heavily repaired stock re-stained, and the bolt stripped, they look very contrasting. Amazing how much stronger the AVT40 stock feels.

Just when I thought the SKS bug was bad.... I sense the SVT bug sneaking up on me.
