All I hear at work is climate change this and that.

When you gut the programs that clear underbrush in Cali and Aussie land, you get arsonist playgrounds.

The animals are the victims in all this. Truly horrific

Sucks for the critters.

I would heartily wish that every person directly affected by those fires, gets a chance to hit one of the arsonists with a stick!

It might motivate them to keep their hands in their pockets, and go have a beer, rather than lighting fires.

With a stick? What?you must be a saint as these guys should be strung up for what they have done....

Sad for those animals...

Am I missing something? The bush fires in Australia were lit by arsonists? I knew some were human carelessness, but arsonists were running about lighting fires?

Despite the damage caused, forest fires are just nature’s version of “spring cleaning”.
People seem to be skipping over the obvious benefits and necessities associated with forest fires.

Now I’m not saying we should string up arsonists by the balls, but the damage done isn’t all bad.

Thats a bit different though, fuel reduction burns as the govt now call it are suppose to be done more often, in many parks and such,,, the politics have locked up so much land and back burns are limited, as well as mountain cattle grazing has been banned from the alps, all of this has been HUGE in the build up over the past few years INCLUDING Tinder dry landscapes in 40 degree heat.

it did not take much, lightning strikes , huge winds, freak fire storms and potential Arsonist.

Aboriginals in the north have been burning their land , slow and cool for a thousand years..... They need to teach these politics whats up.

all my photos for Record.

An for the Record these Fires burnt HOT, Fast and Widespread, I appreciate your opinion Foxalpha, but please dont come on here down talking the devestation and Damage done to our Homes, Farmlands , Native bush and Natie animals, Koala,s Kangaroos, all the lizards and small birds,,,,, its just I give a #### about the Deer to spread the message.

Yeah, with a stick. One that won't break, if you put a little effort into your swing.

End result would be the same, but the guys would have a LOT of time before they expired, to ponder their stupidity.

Last time I ran across a number, they reportedly had over 160 people arrested for Arson so far. So at least some of the fires were lit by people not looking to refresh a little range land or burn of some scrub around the Station.

hey trev, alot of these stats are for lighting a cigerette in public place or putting out cigerette in public place, few other bits n pieces, i thnk there has been about 20 or so actual cases.... alot of blame passing at the moment though

Worked as a cop in Victoria (1985 - 2001).....can't remember the number of times L issued a ticket for people/drivers throwing lit cigs out of vehicle windows.....$250 fine.......

Hope you stay safe.

As a very casual observer from the opposite side of the world, how is this different than what seems to be the norm? 10 million hectares (25000 acres) seems to be average if not below average.20200120_083211.jpg20200120_083234.jpg
