Here's one you don't see very often, a Austrian Steyr (Portuguese) M1885/6 ‘Guedes’ Rifle. Its a shame that the wood has been cut back as its in very good condition, numbers matching. I read up on the history of the rifle, very interesting, feel free to chime in. Thanks !

"Austrian made Steyr ‘Guedes’ design, falling block 8 x 60mm calibre single shot rifle made by O.E.W.G ( Osterreichische Waffenfabrik Gesellschaft ) for the Portuguese government but the order was cancelled and never used by the Portuguese. The factory sold the 8000+ made (18000 claimed) to the Transvaal and Orange free state so were actually used by the Boers in the Boer wars."

I'll be the first to admit that I don't have much knowledge about the Austrian Steyr M1885/6, but what I can say is that that is one fine-looking rifle. I love the look of this era of rifles, and this is a great example of one!
