auto 5 bbl

i was in the gun store the other day, and seen a older auto 5 with a seemed, like a full machined rib, were these common at one time? if not, are they more valuable?

they where fairly common, my 1966 A5 has one, but you ddon't see them as much as the non ribbed barrel
