Hi all, I have an Auto-5 with a loose buttstock - it's the classic problem where the channel for the stock bolt is getting worn out so there's some back and forth play in the stock. There's no cracking to worry about at present, I know the classic solution is drilling out the channel, gluing in a piece of dowel and redrilling the hole but that's beyond my skill level. I was able to fix it with some aluminium shim in the channel, anyone have any thoughts as to whether this is a long term solution or am I just going to create a pressure point that could lead to the stock cracking?
