Auto Ordnance 1911A1s

Wondered if anyone had any experience with the current A-O 1911s. Also, does anyone know who carries these in Canada? I had an older A-O, but it was a bit disappointing in fit / finish. I understand the new ones are much nicer.

Appreciate any thoughts on this gun.

I had a pre Kahr ownership Auto Ord 1911A1 in .4ACP bought NIB back in the day. Fit & finish were not up to my standards, so I didn't have it long.

The current Auto Ords since Kahr took over ownership have a good rating. The new GI model is very nice. And an almost faithful representation of the WWI era USGi 1911A1's. I say "almost" because Auto Ord saw fit to put the firing pin block safety system in it, which the original GI models did not have. It is all internal though so you don't see it from the outside. I have not owned one of these but handled a few at the local gunshop. And speaking to those who own them they have been pleased. It is one way to have a USGI 1911A1 clone as a shooter without breaking the bank & putting too many rounds through an original USGI 1911A1 which now are semi-collectible.

Not sure about when the change happened, but I bought mine in about '89. Tried to like it, but just wasn't happening. Kept it for about 3 years but never used it after the first couple of months.
