Does anyone know if the recent imports of the Auto Ordnance M1 Carbines have stocks/handguards compatible with surplus M1s, and vice versa?

I'd like to have an original but nice looking M1 with either a paratrooper or fixed stock and the proper length barrel, as well as a non-restricted gun to take out into the bush with either a beat up stock that I don't have to worry about scratching, or with one of those Choate folders some of the surplus guns are coming in with. So if I could buy a surplus M1 and one of the Auto Ordnance ones and just swap the stocks & handguards, that would be ideal.

Also, have the recent Auto Ordnance imports improved in reliability? I've heard of some issues with the earlier guns. Thanks.

In the past I fitted a Chippia 9mm carbine into a Ramline side folder.Took some out of the fore end but the real work was in the metal handguard

Going off my understanding of the fundamental M1 design - no differences. Buyers want EXACT copies of the issue firearm so they can exchange parts and accessories easily.

I got my M1 carbine a few years back. It came with 2 mags, the 5/30 mag works great. The second one was an after market, and it wouldn’t work. I bought 3 5/5 auto-ordinance mags, and they work flawlessly. My M1 carbine works well and is a lot of fun to shoot. I would recommend getting one.

I bought a paratrooper stock off the ee a few years back I think it was an auto ordinance one
It fit my gi m1 with no issues
