What is everyones thoughts on the automatic powder dispensers? Do they really work with long grain powders? Don't want to spend the money if they don't work that well. If I still have to trickle up to load weight I might as well measure myself. Any info is appreciated.

the new Chargemaster (RCBS) is the best one according to a lot of benchrest sites. faster, accurate, and easiest to clean.

It's sure fast enough, it's accurate, too. And clean up? Well...Ther eisn't much. Open the gate on the side, let excess powder slide out back into the can, pour it out of the spout, a quick brush out and you are done. A 1 minute job....:)

Yep, the chargemaster works great. I needed it, weighing every match load manually was killing me. It is pretty cheezy thou, reminds me of something LEE would sell, but again it works well and fast. Definately glad I bought one.

I bought the Lyman, and as Gatehouse said, a life changing loading tool.

It makes single stage loading so much faster, and no adjustments need to be made as in a powder thrower. Just punch in the charge you want, press enter, and go.

I find the workflow perfect for the speed of the machine. I pick up the pan, charge the case, put the pan back and press enter. Then I seat a bullet, and by the time I'm done, there's another charge ready.

IMO progressives are good for some things... pistol ammo or large volume rifle ammo like 223 for my AR.

For my bolt actions, I prefer to load for accuracy, and for whatever reason I feel I get more accurate ammo weighing each charge and loading singly.

Plus, many many times I load 5-10 of load A, the same of load B etc, and this seems easier to me on a single stage.

Yea I was looking at the dillon 550, my buddy has one. I don't have a press at all. I have all the dies and I use his. I decided to just use his 550 for my handgun and to get a single stage for myself and reload by hand everything else. Bought most of the stuff on Ebay, just don't have the actual press yet. Too much to ship to get on ebay.

How about pricing guys i know th chargemaster combo is in the $500 range.
how about the Lyman? Are there any bargin brands that work well?
Manualing measuring every load with a scoop and scale is killin me!

You could always order a PACT dispenser from Cabela's. They are really accurate, easy to use and clean out. You can get one delivered for about $285.00 Can
