autoloader = less velocity?

I think they were pullin your leg or they were really old and were thinkin muskets :D
velocity is determined my barrel length .. longer barrel more velocity.

Maybe because the auto uses some of the ammo's energy to cycle whereas the pump keeps it all until the shot leaves the barrel? Need one of each gun, same ammo & a chrony to test this theory unless someone else already has.

the amount of gas bleed off that a gas operated system requires to cycle, is extremley limited to the point where it is not noticable. it's a bit of an old wives tale about gas operated semi auto's. a recoil operated system keeps all the gas from burning powder in the barrel. i've got both but i've never noticed any difference in how much you lead a mallard at 30 yards or a clay at the trap and skeet range.

i was with some older guys, and they had told me that an autoloader will shoot the shells not as far as say a pump, is this true???

Got to watch those older guys. They think themselves into some wierd conclusions. Velocity is more effected by barrel length and temperature than insignificant gas bleed off.

BTW did you decide which auto yet?:D

yes i ordered a Browning Gold, the only ones they had left were the stalker model, but i got a good price form wholesale, and in addition the 100 mail in rebate, I think they only have one left, its in the mail now so I cant wait :)

Next time those old guys start saying that stuff, ell em you can correct the difference by standing 3 inches closer to the target.:dancingbanana:
