I am considering buying an automatic launcher. I don’t want to look for people or try to make schedule match to go do some shooting anymore.

I did some research, I’m not looking to break the bank or become a world class clay shooter, just looking to blast clays with the push of a button nothing too fancy.

So far I’ve looked at a Trius launch pad and Do All Outdoor firefly. Is it worth it to go for used ?

I’m just shopping around in no real hurry but advices are welcome.

I purchased the Champion Workhorse from Lawry Shooting Sports about 2 weeks ago. It has a 25' foot switch and I absolutely love it. I have had no issues with it, and have had 200 clays (also purchased from Lawry) through it, without one break. Inexpensive, shoot at my leisure, and happy so far.

I think that’s the same unit I have as well. It shoots very consistently. Don’t even need to move the gun. Hold in the same place pull the trigger. Can’t miss. I was thinking about mounting it to a pice of plywood with a cv joint vertical underneath. Spring on every corner. Little arm that comes off. Push with my foot change it up a little.

I also picked up a champion workhorse thrower when it was on sale at Cabela's. It has been awesome, and is built surprisingly well. Like Buckhunter, I found it to be almost TOO consistent (Got a little boring) so I picked up the wobble base attachment (Amazon has them. Weird), and I haven't regretted it for a second. It was a bit pricey, but the variation you get in targets is great. It throws up/down/left/right randomly, and you can disable either the up/down or left/right independently. Only thing I miss is being able to throw doubles. Small price to pay though I guess.

I have a wheelybird. Debating on getting another and build a skeet field. You can get wireless remotes.

Interesting. I looked at both the Champions discussed here, on Lawry's site. One question - why is there a big long chord if the remote is wireless? Is it for battery hook-up?

Thanks in advance.

The Wheely Bird 2.0 comes with a 25 FT cord with foot petal to launch the clays and a wireless remote. I believe the foot petal would be incase the remote fails. The remote has a delay that you can adjust to add realism or to allow a single operator better enjoyment. We put it in the middle of an area and walk around to get different angles. I would like the wobble base as well but haven't made the leap yet.

Have had this idear kicking around in the back of head for a quite time now as well . What equipment would be the best bang for the buck .? And where should one look to find a automatic clay shooter. Haven't seen any announcements for them for a couple of years now . Never have see any secondhand for sale ether . Manuel ones aren't to common around here but they can be ordered for about 100.00 $ . Other than a battery what are they selling for these days ? A good place to find them ?
I did at one time plan to bolt one down to a garden trailer so it could be easy to move and store .

Picked up my pre-ordered Workhorse today. $349+ tax. Deaner and I will be shooting up a storm if we get some decent weather. :). Also scooped a couple of cases of Challenger for $7.12/box+ tax. I think I counted around eight cases in the pile the other day. I might share one case with Dean. :p

I got a Champion Wheelybird 2.0 about a year and half ago. I've run around five hundred clays through it so far without a hiccup. I like the delay on the remote, and to be honest I never hooked up the foot pedal. My wife bought me the wobbler for it for Christmas, I have it installed and I am looking forward to trying it out on the next fine day. I use a power pack for boosting cars to run it. I would also like to someday mount it on a small trailer to tow behind the atv.

I bought a do all white wing about 4yrs ago. It has broken every clay its ever thrown. Set it up and fiddle with it every spring then pack it away again cause it doesn't work. Seems to be common.
