Gun: Mossberg 395k, 12 gauge

This is to get the elevation in the ballpark for use with Winchester 2-3/4" foster slugs at ~25 yards.

If she does not hold I guess it's back to the drawing board. :p

Note: the auxilliary front sight is not permanent, it is not expoxied permanently, it's just bedded on the bottom.

The cross pin goes through the original front bead, and was secured there with locktite thread sealant (it was a slip fit).

Should hold for at least one shot!
Did you drill a hole in the sight block to use the front bead as an anchor and then cement it on?

Yes, that was the plan. If this does not hold I plan on using a barrel clamp and spotweld the sight on the split band.

However the auxilliary sight is not permanently fastened to the gun or the original sight.

The auxilliary sight was filed to fit the width of the original bead closely, if you don't know, the original bead on the Mossberg 395K has flat sides (at least my 395K does).

The epoxy was only to provide support to the bottom of the auxilliary sight.

On reflection, it would have been better to have fitted the bottom of the auxilliary sight to the polychoke and then crossdrilled, but hindsight is 20/20. For a release agent I used soot/blackshoepolish.

^I thought of epoxying the whole issue together, but if it fails, I would have a mess on my hands to remove it.

I might see if it is anywhere close to the point of aim, and if that goes well, I might very well epoxy the whole issue there permanently.
