... that aren't tactical!

Budget ceiling $800. German #4 reticle (custom?). Low variable power (1.5-6, 2-7. etc) 1" tube. Wanting good low light performance. Around 4" eye-relief.

Any suggestions?

I have scrapped my vintage European optics search as the short eye-relief is bothersome.

Close... But no #4 and the FFP models have too much power for my needs.

It's starting to look like my only option is the Leupold MK4 MR/T with 1" tube.

Meh... What a fruitless venture this has become. I'll just keep my Helia 39 S2 and make it work even if the eye relief sucks and it weights 1 lbs.

Leupold still doesn't impress me much. A 50 year old Kahles Helia 39 is still better than the comparable brand new Leupold of the same price. (Used value of a Helia 39 is $500-600)

Too bad you can't work with a 30 mm tube in a Ffp scope, the prices are generally a lot higher than the $800 you want to spend. The Schmidt 1.5-6 is a very nice scope with the number 4 reticle.

I need the scope to fit a Jaeger side mount with 1" rings and finding 30mm is damn near impossible. So my options are limited to 1" and 26mm (rings of course)

I'm looking into a Schmidt & Bender for my 9.3x62
