Hey guys,

I live about a 50-minute drive north of the Crowsnest Pass, and have nothing-to-do with this hardware store in Blairmore.

I buy my ammunition there. Suddenly, in about a week ... the firearms section was moved and tripled in size.

'Way more choice ...! "

A totally knowledgeable clerk looked at my PAL card and said "Whoaa 12.6!"

I noticed a few CZ .22's on the rack, wow!

And today there's a Robinson Arms (the first one was sold really fast), an H&K whatever, and a Polytech M-14.

I talked with the gun-person and asked advice about the best Cosmoline cleaner for my new Marstar SKS ... which she thought was a huge deal ... and we agreed on Varsol, and she directed me to the paint aisle.

Please reconsider the old conundrum ... about pawing their guns and ordering elsewhere:)

Just sayin' ...

Nate,

How in the hell did you know that it was a Home Hardware? With toaster-ovens and George Foreman grills and dowels and stuff!?

The Home Hardware near me used to carry a good stock of ammo, I don't remember if they had any firearms or not, but it sure was convenient to go pick up a couple bricks of .22LR from them.

I'll have to stop in there and check it out on the 24th!!! The Home Hardware I remember didn't have a whole lot of firearms-related items.

I guess that somebody finally figured out that people in the Pass, Sparwood (BC) and Elkford (BC) hunt and shoot, so why would they go to Pincher Creek or Lethbridge to find some guns and ammo if there's something closer.

Where?

The Home Hardware store is about 400 meters south of the big Tim Horton's / gas-station junction on Highway #3 as you leave Coleman and reach Blairmore two minutes later.

I think that it may be called the West Blairmore Access ...

Pincher Creek? You'd think otherwise ... I sure did ... it's a serious ranching town with deep rural roots and major history ... but (for firearms stuff) it's not even close. Go figure.

WalMart notwithstanding ... :)

it depends on the franchise(e's). My local one had firearms and ammo then when they moved locations dropped the firearms and kept the ammo. The Brandon one has a good (but smallish) hunting/fishing section but basically, they have to make good money off it to make it worth their while. So its always good to see expansion.

I work and live in the Crowsnest Pass. Yes, the Home Hardware here is nice. The manager is a shooter and shoots pistol down at the indoor range, so he appreciates our interest and keeps his store stocked with rifles, pistols, a good selection of ammo, optics and reloading supplies. The girls that he has working in that section are also shooters and gun owners. I've actually found what I've been looking for there more often than WSS in Lethbridge.
A few local complainers ##### about his prices but the way I look at it is you can pay a little more and support a local business or to save a buck you can take an entire afternoon and whatever gasoline it takes to drive to Lethbridge or Calgary, but then at the end of the day how much have you saved?
We're pretty lucky here. 3 good inexpensive outdoor ranges in the region and an indoor year-round pistol range right here in town. Plus a good gun section in the hardware store.
