Awkward sighting through scope issues

I have difficulty with my shoulder-eye-head position while sighting through scopes that are mounted in the standard position. I find that scopes are usually an inch too low and about three inches to far forward.

I have purchased adapters to position them where I want. This works well on most rifles, but I would like to try another rout on my new rifle.

Would a handgun scope be an option on a rifle?

Any advice here is welcome.

You need to learn to position your body/head/shoulders better. Usually this problem happens with those of us of shorter stature. When properly positioned, you should be able to stick the thumb of your trigger hand in the air and almost be able touch the end of your nose. If you can't do this then you are positioned way too far back on the stock. As the comb of the stock is usually higher, this also explains why you are not able to get your eye in alignment! Your stock could be simply too long for you. Place your elbow on a table, place your rifle butt in the hollow when you raise you hand up and you should be able to reach the trigger, if you can not, then your stock is too long!

Note in my photo opposite where my head and eye is in relation to the rifle. Leaning into the rifle and forward.

When you say "place your rifle butt in the hollow", is this the hollow of my sholder?

If my stock is too long, that would suggest that I shorten the stock. My testicals just crawled up inside thinking of taking a saw to my new rifle.

It sounds like you may have an issue with your stock, not your scope. Take the butt of your stock and place it in the inside of your elbow. Look at your trigger finger. If the first joint of your finger does not line up with your trigger, you might want to add spacers or a recoil pad to give your butt stock some more length. This is what the pro target shooters do, so that when you snap the rifle up to your shoulder, you are already on target every time.

OK, we have stock too short, and a stock too long.

When I shoot with a scope in a "normal position", the butt is in the middle of my bicep, and my neck is strained as I'm pushing my head forward.

When I use a modified mount, that moves the scope one inch up and three inches back, everything is in a good position, and I'm in a relaxed position. The butt is on my shoulder, and my neck isn't strained.

I'm only looking for advice on a scope where I wouldn't have to use modified mounts.
