I'm thinking of purchasing a set of this type of ear protection for competition shooting and hunting. Just wondering if anyone is using this product and what your thoughts are? I like the idea that they actually enhance sounds like hearing aids and that could be helpful when hunting. The 29 Bb noise cancel seems to be higher than my current walker ear muffs so that sould be great as well. I look forward to hearing any feedback you guys have

My hearing has been damaged by shooting, farming and snowmobiling. My wife had to translate most of what our children said until they were three because the high frequencies go first. I use Peltor muffs branded 3M 105 Peltor H10A, 30dB and 3M 312-1251, 33dB ear plugs at the same time. No substitutions. Hopefully I will understand the grandkids a little.

I am sorry to hear about the damage to your ears. Farming and shooting can be tough on a person. Thanks for the recomendation on the Petor muffs.

I went in to Cabelas to purchase a set of these ear protection and they sold out. I clicked on a bunch of the site sponsers banners but no one is selling them who supports Gun Nutz.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I’ve had a set for just over a year, now.

What I like:

1 - I prefer in ear protection, because my ears hurt when I wear over ear protection with safety glasses.
2 - The microphone helps to have a normal volume conversation with those around you and hear range commands/alerts.
3 - I work in construction and appreciate being able to answer calls without having to take everything off to talk and listen to something if I’ve got a mindless task moment.
4 - Good protection for 9mm/40sw handguns and 22lr.

What I don’t:

1 - After 5+ hours, my ear holes get cranky. The sizes of the foam are just a little too small or too big.
2 - I didn’t find them sufficient for center fired rifle rounds or comped unlimited class handguns. When I’m shooting rifles, I switch to my custom molded ear plugs and peltor muffs. The Xcore are 29 snr, which appears to work out to a 25/26 nrr. Normal foam earplugs give you way more noise reduction.
3 - The microphone isn’t the best. In noisy/windy environments, it can be challenging to make out a conversatIon.

YMMV

I’m done buying anything Walker branded. One year if you’re lucky if you hunt and shoot frequently. JUNK I’m done after 4 pairs in 4 years. Good luck with the one year warranty

I've had a chance to use them around the house. The bluetooth connection was very easy and simple. The operation of the buds was fairly simple and intuitive. The foam tips fit my ear canal well. The sound quality for the music and bluetooth feature was quite nice as well. I normally use Jaybird Vista buds. I would say the sound quality on these was pretty close, 85-80% as good. Sound reduction was really nice. My wife was vacuming the house and I could hardly hear it. Sound the db of noise reduction was impressive. The ambient noise feature is ok. I can hear stuff in the background but it does sound a bit strange.

Havent taken them to the range yet so Ill do a follow up on there primary use review.

Tried them at the range today.
I spent a day at the range with them. I found that I needed to put my muffs over top of them to give me enough protection. That being said there were a couple of shooters with muzzle brakes and that always makes things louder in an enclosed space. I am a bit careful about my hearing as I already have damage and dont want it to get worse.

I did try shooting while playing music. It was kinda weird listening to tunes as I was shooting but was kinda fun too. I think I could wear them solo without muffs over top out in the field doing target shooting or hunting. In an enclosed environment with other shooters they seem to let to much noise through. I am not disappointed in the purchase but I had hoped that I could use them exclusively without muffs. More data is needed. I will do another report after I do some field shooting and let you guys know what I think.

Thanks for your comments. After I read them and added my experience I am firmly in the camp that we need supressors for our rifles. The health care system would be alot less busy caring for hearing damage if they were legal, not to mention they dont actually silence the report of a rifle just lessen the volume.
