B.C. game hunter's trail of deadly blunders results in 10-year ban

Loss of hunting license is obviously inadequate for this man.
It did not stop him previously from continuing what he was doing.
He needs to go to jail.

It pissed me off somewhat to read that his lawyer said this:

"He will only be returning to Canada for brief holidays. He would like to partake in recreational hunting while he returns to visit Canada."

So neither the culprit nor his lawyer know that his desire to "to partake in recreational hunting while he returns to visit Canada" is illegal if he is not meeting residential requirements.

He's just a criminal looking for a place to commit crimes.

" A bear's gallbladder can sell for up to $250. Abroad, that figure rises to $10,000."
I think there is much more to this than meets the eye! I know of several people that I used to work with that always asked what I did with the gallbladder after a hunt and they hinted that it could be quite profitable... Clearly the fines and the hunting ban will not detour this guy so a travel ban is what is needed IMO. Send him back to China and tell him he is no longer welcome in Canada.

Liu owns a home in Richmond, but in a letter to the appeal board, his lawyer said his client has moved back to China to help with his son's education.

But Liu still hopes to spend time in B.C. and argued that, at his "age of almost 60," a decade-long ban "likely amounts to an effective lifetime prohibition."

So he IS or IS NOT a citizen? Hello? Journalism?

For such 'wonton' abuse (sorry for the pun) he should lose the house in Richmond.

And here I was hoping the gall bladder epidemic was behind us in BC, fifteen to twenty years ago there was a massive program to crack down on it, and reg changes where it was illegal to possess the gall bladder. Now we’re back to seeing it in the news again.

Some needs to reach the end user market in Asia, with additives.

I have friend on the Island, PAL instructor/examiner, BC Hunter Safety instructor, avid hunter, talks to a lot of hunters and outdoor folks and he says that sadly yes; gall bladder killing goes on.

It shows a lack of understanding or the inability of the judge to really hammer him. A ten year ban is a joke, lifetime is required. Loss of all guns, equipment and a fine that would choke a horse. The gall bladder this guy sold in China puts him in a profitable position. This is the story CBC played that is currently being appealed to the CBC Ombudsman as showing bias. It is in the News Digest Forum right now and is at stage thee and awaiting the next move by the Ombudsman as he is currently reviewing it. Just waiting at this time to update the thread. The next stage of the process will be on public display on the Ombudsman's web page so everyone can view the process.
