I have a question about the B&T TP-9 and its status after the recent handgun prohibition. It seems to be registered as a Commercial Version as opposed to a handgun.

Are they still transferable under the recent changes?

Thanks!

The armalytics frt will tell you how a firearm is classified, such as criminal code s.84 restricted para a, b ,c etc

Para (a) is handgun not prohibited.

(b) short semi auto centerfire

(c) short firearm

For what commercial version means search up "FRT atip Dennis young" (direct pdf download warning) he ATIP a copy of how the RCMP enter data into the FRT.

The TP9 is classified as
CC 84(1) "restricted firearm" para. (b)

A short semi auto centerfire firearm

Go figure but things not considered handguns are not affected by the ban. Your gun has a 5 round magazine right? Did you ever wonder why?

It did cross my mind that it did not appear to be classified as a handgun as it had 5 rd magazines, however it wasn’t classified as a rifle either. I figured some of the very well educated contributors would chime in. I didn’t want to assume anything as one should never assume with the current shenanigans going on with the OICs being used if late.
