Been away from reloading for a few years now, my gun room has more or less become a spot my wife tosses anything and everything, had become a complete disaster. Took the last 3 days to clean it to the point I can use the bench again.
Going moose hunting next week, so am loading up some 150gr TSX's for my .270. After a lot of reading, I should probably have just stuck with 130gr, but the salesman at Epps convinced me otherwise. Well, stuck with them now, if they don't make good groups tomorrow, will have to likely treck back there and get the 130's, money is tight or would have just bought both.
Had my son and daughter down there to teach them the basics, 0 attention span when they are together, next time it'll be one or the other. Got to the point where I had the full length die installed in the press, and was showing them the what why and how of it all, when I lubed up my first brass with imperial sizing wax, and had a go at resizing. Boy! It was tight, has it been this long? Am I in a weakened state since I last reloaded? Something told me it was too much pressure, I got 2 shells resized, and the 3rd was no tighter than the previous 2, and sure enough, snap. Back in 2008 when I started collecting reloading gear, it's one piece I'm sure glad I grabbed, the stuck case remover from rcbs. Remembered roughly what to do, now where's my DeWalt drill... Hmm oh well, back to the old plug in drill that's older than I am. Got it drilled and threaded and headed out to the garage, put it in the vice and gladly it came out.
Took the guts out of the die and lubed it up really well with wax and voila, no more problems. Have sized a dozen, much easier now. Will remember this next time I use a brand new die.
It's all coming back though, sure is a peaceful time sitting there with no worries bothering you.
Happy reloading everyone.
