Oh just to add a little story about a deer kill
Here I was, I shot a deer on a lease (old compressor station site about 300mx200m) near last light, long shot but the 300 mag worked just great. It took off running about 50m ending up about 15m inside the tree line. I had no problems followin the blood trail on the old lease but when hit the tree line I thought I was screwed because it was gettin dark and I was going to have to go back and get a flashlight, (I was about a mile from camp) but luckly it was easy to folloe the trail and the deer was just behind a thicket.
So now I drag it out onto the lease and get the quad turned around so I have some light to gut it. I just get started and I see a truck turning into the lease and I think great one of my buddies is comming to help, so I continue gutting. The truck stops about 5m from me with its lights on me I think good more light for gutting, and I look up at the front of the truck and I see a big warn winch and think hey buddy dosn't have a winch.
Well dam what do you know its the fish cops. So I'm gutting and chatting just shooting the #### with to officer and he waits till I'm all done and I'm cleaning my hands with snow, took about 10 min. Then I say well I guess now you want to see my tags.

so I giv him the tag and the licence and he looks at them while I throw the deer on the back of the quad and stick the wire into the back leg for the tag. No problem everything in order so we chat a bit more while I peel the sticker and sitck it to the wires

done.
Its the first time I've ever had the wardens at a fresh kill and I have only seen them twice before in the woods while hunting.
Good guy to chat with and no silly questions about gun registration or quad registration and that I had the deer down but did not put the tag on before I started gutting, all those silly useless things.
I love living in Alberta.
