I had a Mosin scout rifle made a while back.

During the process I removed the rear sight and put on a new scout mount. The entire base was removed leaving the dovetail to which the mount was eventually secured, during this process the scope was damaged by one of the attempted sight ins before the mount was secure.

I want this gun to be a go anywhere survive anything rifle, so I have decided to renounce the scope.

I have decided to put some irons on it, the Mosin originals never appealed to me. I would prefer something windage and elevation adjustable.

I am wondering if anyone knows of a battue style rib that would fit the 11mm? This would be the ultimate site on the rifle imo. I know this is a popular dovetail size in Europe so maybe I am missing some European products. I know some airgun products may fit as well, any suggestions?

Some other ideas: A williams rear behind where the 11mm dovetail is. A shotgun ghost ring site somehow fixed onto the dovetail. A flat base sight drilled to the dovetail.

I would appreciate more ideas or suggestions for any of the above sights and how to attach them. Cheap and durable like the rifle itself is prefered.

Thanks, look at their catalouge as we speak, can't seem to find an 11mm rear sight base. Do you know if they have a Canadian distributor?

If someone could chip in with their experiences with the Marbles #30 rear sight base that would be helpful.

I am wondering if it is truly universal and could be securely fashioned to the military sights base.

^ have been talking on email with him about using their CZ rear sight which fits an 11mm dovetail. Will fit the dovetail. I have asked if he can put a pin in for the hole in the dovetail, but he mentioned that at such a low weight it was unlikely it would move under recoil. I am inclined to believe him, but if doesn't cost much to add a pin couldn't hurt.

Love skinner sights, great customer service and a bigger catalog than is online. He also seems pretty amicable to making things work in my experience. Currently waiting (not so patiently maybe at this point with no hunting rifle) for a factory front and skinner rear sight to go on my t3.

Also thinking of mounting a williams base behind the dovetail, can't find the express style blade I like anywhere though, even brownells does not have it.

Going to hold out and do it right this time, now that the rifle is officially a money sink.

Here's a thread discussing some airgun sights. A simple and cheap approach would be to use the rail you have allready. Cut it down as needed and then drill and tap the rear to secure a flat peep sight.

Current setup is a one piece cantilever style scout mount on the dovetail.

The only rail is the 11mm dovetail mentioned in that thread.

I'm thinking a smaller hunting rifle style base will fit behind the dovetail. Not sure if the flat style base would fit on it, but the universal base behind the dovetail seems like a better idea at this point.

Sorry, I'm not aware of which agency might deal with Recknagel. They may sell to you directly?

You might be able to get them through New England Custom Gun in New Hampshire. They can export to Canada, I believe. I thought NECG had a link to someone up here who carries their products but I can't find it on their website. However, be warned that Recknagel stuff isn't cheap!
