If it's for a iron sighted 30-30 /45-70 lever gun, they flop around lots. the scabbard is large enough for a scoped gun .an iron sighted rifle has almost too much room without doing a little modification. Just a FYI
No expert...but unless it's an SBR...it's gonna flop around. Maybe a custom one would stop that... but generic off the shelf stuff? It's like buying Chinese leather products... jeez how come it's worn out already?
I picked up the model from trapper gords site and it came yesterday. Overall quality is as better than expected for the price. Tried a few rifles in with scopes. One was a single shot with scope and fit is good without much movement. Other one was bolt action with scope and fit is tight and this is 40mm scope. Being only 25” long bag, is more suited for short barrelled guns. Also tried single shot shotgun and there is movement but overall manageable. The buttstock cover is nice option to cover things up and be able to use as a gun case.
I bought one from primetime...another store in the GP area. Thiers is similar except the bottom has a fold down extension that allows for longer rifles. The fold down is held up by a snap.. mine also has the hidden top cover and same shoulder straps. Take a look at yours to see if the bottom has a snap holding it folded up. It might also be longer rifle capable. I agree for a scoped gun there's lots of room and it holds it very well. I find for un-scoped rifles they flop around a bit much for my liking....thinking of putting in a few snaps to close it in some...
I'm a forestry technician in Northern alberta. I walk around the woods all day for 200 days a year. I have a defender 12ga for bear defense and use a cheap 20ga single shot during the winter to shoot small game. I have an eberlestock day pack that I wear every day and have strapped a cheapo china tactical shotgun scabbord to the side of it. Problem is that they get ripped up pretty quick. I looked at the eberlestock one, but it's just too heavy for me. Making one out of leather would be awesome as it's tough, light and stiff...... except for when it rains all day. Lately I made my own from a dollarama foam floor mat (you know the diamond plate looking things for the shop floor) and gorilla tape. It's ghetto, but it works better. I've still to find an ideal solution.

I got one from amazon, just received it today. It's a shotgun scabbard though so no go for optics. Says designed in commiefornia but it's made in china. I guess we'll see how long it lasts but I won't be too hard on it so it should serve me well. Quality seems pretty good.
I bought it to carry the little single shot cooey while coyote hunting. I want something for finishing shots without doing any more damage to the pelt than necessary. Point blank 00 buck with a 12 gauge isn't the best, sucks twice as much when the dogs we're only 10-15 seconds behind the coyote and get to it before I do. Cooey is 35" long and the scabbard is 29" so there isn't much sticking out. Should work well I think, trial run Wednesday so we'll see how it goes.
I wish we we're allowed to carry a little revolver for such applications but alas, such a thing is verboten in canuckistan.
