So I bought the 12g Backpacker 2 for a bit of fun. I picked up a few boxes of Challanger target loads. First pull of the trigger, just a click. So I do the countdown and then remove the round. Slide another one in and same thing. Do the countdown again and put the first round back in to try my luck. No joy. Here's a picture of the primers. Any suggestions about weather it's bad ammo or a bad striker?

I've put 1000 rounds of challenger through my Remington 1100 without issues and I haven't heard of anyone else I shoot trap with having light primer strikes with it either.

That's way off center. I had ignition problems on 9mm in a PCC with off center strikes...and it wasn't as severe as what you're showing. My problem was carbon buildup under the extractor so an easy fix. Imagine it might be more complicated in this case.

Is the backpacker 2 a break action?
I have a Russian break action 7.62X39 that needed to be slammed firmly shut or it would get light strikes when it was new. If it was closed gently it would lock but the striker was getting slowed down by the locking block not being fully seated..... maybe try slamming it shut and see if that helps?

2 things If it's a Turkish break barrel, the hammer spring may be too long. I've got a couple that had too long of hammer springs causing the hammer to stop short. You could check firing pin protrusion. I Had to grind the hammer spring off at least 1mm maybe a bit more. Next is ammo, federal shells won't go off, Winchester will.
