Bad batch of Chinese SKS rifles

im a new shooter and i just purchased my first gun, a SKS from Lever Arms. i was reading some posts from mid september about a poor batch of SKS rifles sold at Lever, something about them being pinned barrels and made of spare parts not original military production. one response on the post stated that if the gun had a serial number starting with 040 then it was part of this troublesome batch.

well to make a long story short, i checked my serial number and it infact begins with 040. so do i have a defective gun? should i anticipate that i will have problems with it? any info in regards to this would be greatly appreciated.

Depends. Lever apparantly replaced the undersized barrel pins with a correctly fitting one on the remainder after the pin problem became known.

Yes, these rifles are not milspec SKS, just cobbled up parts guns.
The particular barrel attachment method in question is by no means an actual military model variation.

A pinned and press fitted barrel using a Chinese designed type 3 receiver is a legit late production PLA military variant but it only resembles the method of construction used on these parts carbines in the broadest terms.

Don't worry , I never had the pin changed and my Lever SKS works fine .
