This is a true hunting story one that I can just add to the pile.

My old man is retired, but like everyones 65 year old dad set in his ways. I bought him Very nice Sako 61-r a few years back , unfired and a very nice stick. After about 3 years of him not using it he handed it back to me and said I will never use this gun, I would rather just use the 30-30, so I sold the gun. Last summer he asked me if I had a different old rough gun, that he could buy from me with an old scope lol, i laughed and teh next week, I picked up a new 116 weather warior, in a 300 wsm for him, and topped it with a Burris FF II, for him. I loaded some 180 gr accubonds for him a box of 20, and also loaded some 175 gr smks for him to play with, as durring the load development the same POI was close, plus they are cheep to shoot vs the accubonds for practice.

Nov 1st i stopped in and went over everything and set out the bullets to use and not to use, as I was on my way to Deer Camp for the week.

I phoned him on the thursday and he said yep got my deer but that gun was way to big lol! I laughed at him, he is a meet hunter and said all right see you on sat.

Well the silly bugger some how, I have no idea got the bullets mixed up, even though i wrote on the box, for practice only lol!

Now that I see what a SMK will do after bone Contact, I would never use them, in a Million Years. He got the deer yes, the deer took 2 shots to go down, and on in the mellon to end it. The frist bullet 100% fragmented on contact, the second did not open at all and penciled through, and the 3rd well what can I say.

The first bullet hit at a front quartering to you and hit the left shoulder , than changed direction fragmented down the whole left side, openng the deer up like a zipper.

I am only telling this story because I see lots of posts and questions about SMKs for hunting, and also because I laugh at my old man everytime i think about it lol!

I guess unpredictable is a work for this bullet after impact.
