Hey guys

I could say i got a little bit of experience shooting the ar15 but when it comes to modifications.. i still have more to learn.

Today i went to the range with my m400 to zero my new burris ar332 and huh ive only been able to fire 14 rounds... then i had only light strikes.

My AR is -1000 rounds down the pipe always been taken care of but i did some modifications to the stock a few weeks before.

I did swapped the stock on these two guns.

Vz58 with commercial tube + really cheap M4 stock.
Sig m400 had the milspec tube with magpul moe stock.

Yes both tubes are different but they had the same thread i had no problems to swap the tubes...

Getting back to the light strikes, after 3 times trying to fire the same round i decided to take gun apart and check my bolt carrier etc..

The buffer tube spring got propelled out of the stock.. when i opened the gun.

i did tried to put it back in his place and keep firing. but no success..

Now i got 2 springs f'ed up.

The buffer retainer spring ..

And this spring here. - > http://www.invictustacticalreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/AR15_Receiver_End_Plate_Buffer_Tube_assembly.jpg

Do you think the light strikes are related to my recent modification?

now i need new parts can anyone tell me if i need a complete kit or i can only order the two springs?

need a diagnosis my ar has been running really well until i made this mod.

Thanks

You should be able to order just the springs, MilArm in Edmonton I know carry individual parts, but there are probably places closer to you that carry individual parts.... Should be a couple bucks worth of springs.

Now as to the light strikes, you should check and make sure there wasn't a piece that got stuck in the bolt carrier or in your hammer spring. The buffer tube shouldn't cause light strikes... Something is either jamming the hammer, or jamming the firing pin.

Did the rifle pass the function test? Unload, charge rifle (safety on) no click. Charge rifle (safety off) click. Hold trigger, charge rifle: release trigger - should click. If that passes, look inside and make sure your hammer spring is oriented properly: spring tails on top of the trigger pin. If that all looks good, look at your bolt carrier; take it apart and make sure everything is strait and the firing pin isn't bent and everything moves freely.

If all that fails, make sure that the recoil spring is pushing the bolt carrier all the way forwards, if the gun isn't returning to battery properly, it could cause the bolt to not be rotated fully and the firing pin won't protrude enough to detonate the primer. Need to make sure you have the proper spring/buffer and that the buffer moves freely inside the tube. Also should make sure there isn't anything inside the barrel extension that's jamming the bolt up, and no excessive wear marks on the cam pin of the bolt.

I asked a guy at the range to help me because i knew he had more XP than i do and i can recall him telling me to load/unload rifle and use the fire selector switch at the same time. I cant recall the exact procedure but i would say yes it did passed the function test. He told me sorry something is broken and i cant help you at this point.

Ill buy the new springs required have someone with knowledge have a look at my rifle.

Thanks for the help F22_RaptoR
