Just got an email from Murray Sloan informing us of the passing of John Chapman. The official obit will be out later this week. Those who knew him, most probably, have fond memories. Sad to see an MPRA driving force lost now to history. Rest in Peace John. Condolences to the family.

RIP John, one of the first people I met when I started to shoot F class and he was always gracious and made me feel welcomed to the community.
 
John and I were new caps together on our first DCRA Team to Bisley. We hit if off right from the start and had a great time. He was on all 4 Bisley teams that I went on and was Vice Commandant in 2014. John also went with us to Barbados in 2013 and coached me to a great 50.7V at 900 yards in the Australia Match. Just this past Oct. he was my head coach for the team I took to Guyana. Up until a month ago John was planning to make another trip to shoot in Barbados in May. Cancer Sucks.
I will miss him greatly. Stand easy Sergeant Major.
 
John wasn't one to talk about his service, but the odd story he'd mention were great - he was always being brought out of some sh!thole place in the world to shoot at Bisley (he mentioned being pulled out of the jungles of Belize one year). He'd tell you what had to be said in colorful single or two syllable words and here would be no misunderstandings when he was done. I'm going to miss him.
