Just saw BDs KAR-98 in the EE. Nice rifle! Wish I had $575 unallocated. :(

BD, do you have a range report done for that rifle already? Love to know more about it.

Never even see one in condition like that.

DT

BadgerDog's rifles are all beauties. I grabbed a VERY nice East-German Refurbed K98k from him last christmas. and I'm nothing but pleased with it's aestetics and preformance.

Thanks dangertree ...... :beerchug:

Unfortunately, I don't have the actual target to post, as it was one of those days where I forgot to bring it home. The guys were still shooting and I couldn't go down range to retrieve it.

Anyway, she shot about a 4" group at 100 yards from the standard iron sights, which is pretty good for my old "bifocal" eyes and an 88 year old gun. It's an "all correct" piece, although the serial numbers are mismatched. Under the terms of the Versailles Treaty the number of rifles the German Army was limited to 84,000 Gew98’s and 18,000 Kar98a’s (later increased by 50,000 rifles to be used as a reserve). The German Military worked around these restrictions by assembling rifles from previously made parts and by hiding large numbers of rifles from the Versailles weapons commission.

It's in very good condition for a 88 year old rifle and the barrel has well defined rifling. I have two Kar98a's and her sister is also mismatched and isn't in as good an overall condition as the one advertised, but I decided to keep it, purely because it was double dated 1913/1920. It's the one displayed in the MKB.

Regards,
Badger
