In all my years I have never owned a Rem pump till now!
Just how does a guy go about shooting one of these things off a set of bags?
Surely you don't set that rattley forearm on the front bag :eek:
My inclanation is to set the rails on a firm sand bag close to the reciever.

Yeah, what these guys said. With that one, if you don't secure the forestock she'll be spittin' out the brass for ya like a semi....:p

Most of my bolt guns seem to shoot better with the bag close to the reciever, thought it was because of possible spring in forestock...learn something most every day! :D
 
when I had mine, I rested the forestock on the bags, with no issue.

It's a pain to cycle, because you have to lift it off the bags and reset your aim for the next shot. Just wait until you use a shooting stick with it. Or have to lie prone and have to cycle it for a second shot.

Consider for a moment where your supporting hand is going to be when you shoot it offhand while hunting. :D
 
I have done both, but make sure that if you rest the fore end on a bag that the pump then doesn't come in contact with the barrel. It all depends how much flex you have in the rails. I have three 7600's and they are all solid in the rail area, but my last .30-06 760 would flex a bit and the pump would contact the barrel if placed on a rest. Maybe that was a rare case.
 
You'll be surprised at the loads you can shoot in them. Most shoot better with hot loads.

SB dies are not needed. FL works fine.

I set them right on the forend.

There is a hard rubber washer that goes on the forend guide that stops that rattle.

Rest the wobbly forend on a bag like you would any forend...

Or if that bothers you - try holding on to the forend while resting your wrist/hand on the bag and use a rear bag as well...
