Wondering how many folks own one of these......after debating over a year I finally succumbed to temptation and acquired one. I'd very likely suck at the use of the 410 :p

However, it's nice and compact (very well built) and minus the single action concept (when compared to Savage 24F models). Only drawback, IMHO, is the huge rear sight. Has any one attempted to replace that with a Marbles folding sight?

I tried putting on a after market 1911 rear sight and fit well but the front sight was to thin.
Im thinking of making a front sight out of a normal bolt of the same thead and grind it to the thickness I need
I will try to get some pics when done

Looking forward to the pics.

I have one...bought it off a fellow CGN. It is.....and you're not gonna believe it....teh most acuurate .22 I have ever shot! 1 hole 5 shot strings.

Now the ugly: The gun was NIB when I bought it, but the machining of the internals was so bad that I couldn't shoot one barrel, re-#### (by squeezing the handle) and shoot the second. I literally had to open the gun then slam it closed to shoot the other barrel. I took it apart, and polished all the internals to a mirror shine, Works like a dream now. Overall, for the money ot cost me...I'm very happy. As far as the sight goes, I took mine out and mounted a 1.5-4.5 bushnell scope. Just make sure you get millet rings, as standard .22 rings don't fit the rail.
Cheers,

Ryan

Most Baikal long guns (read NIB condition) - from what I've experienced so far tend to be extremely stiff and need to be "wrestled" with in order to open and close the action for the first little while :) However, I was lucky that my 22/410 was tight/smooth from the beginning much like what you'd see in the more prominent brands. Prefer to use irons for the purpose that I bought that for......primarily Grouse.....haven't had a chance to pattern test the 410 though. Don't doubt the .22 accuracy....Baikal firearms performance is close to excellent.

I finally got around to install a better sight!
The 1911 sight was a bit bulky and wide so I tried using a 10/22 fold down sight,Had to file quite a bit to make it fit but the results look good so far.
I will try sighting it in this week.

I used one on my trapline for a fall. Solid dependable and VERY accurate. The only thing it did badly was that the extractor on the .410 barrel would not extract 3" cartridges. I just adapted by shooting 2 1/2" cartridges. No problem then. I liked the coarse sights for close range head shots on grouse rabbits and the occasional trapped critter. Good gun good price. Had trouble finding a skinny sling for the euro style sling mounts.

cheers Darryl
