I took my new Baikal Makarov out to the range today and was very impressed :) 250rds with no stoppages and it grouped very well even with the crappy trigger.

Here are afew 8rd single action groups from 10m standing unsupported with Norinco ammo. Little more practice with it and I am hoping to cut the groups in half ;)

I've had mine for a few? years, and it does the pretty much the same......love it. Mine groups almost that well when I get practiced up. I find the trigger on mine not bad at all, although the tooling/machining marks inside are somewhat ghastly.:p

that's one that's near the top of "the list" everytime I see a thread about them they tend to move up the list a little faster.

I love mine. Very handy little pistol. The 9x18mm ammo is (currently) cheap form Canada Ammo. If it had a proper mag release it would be my go to pistol for shooting games...

PS: OP, how did you get the ghastly banners off the slide? Mine looks like a Czech hockey player.... Surprised it doesn't say LADA across it....

All the newer Baikals are coming with smaller blued markings :) no more eye sore silver markings

Don't buy one of these for looks - they're pretty crude with mucho tooling marks and hideous grips like a petrified Eatmore bar. But they do function and shoot quite well (thank you fixed barrel). I have one in .380 and it's great fun.
