Hi
I just bought this gun and love it:D but could somebody please explain
what each choke is designed for and what you use them for.
It came with a xfull, full, modified and Improved cylinder. Even though
the chokes are steel my gun smith said don't use the full and X full for steel:confused:.
Thanks for the help,
Tony

Imp Cyl is the most useful choke for most shotgunning chores. Great for skeet and upland game. Will work great for waterfowl (steel shot) over decoys. Use Mod (makes the shot pattern denser) for high flying geese and trap. Full for turkey and trap.

Another thought about using the full choke though with steel...would BB's
be to much even though the choke says steel.

Pattern your gun!!!

I did and found the Xfull is the ONLY choke I use for duck hunting. It is designed for steel shot. I found a mod choke even at 20 yds gave a horribly loose pattern. IC was much worse. THERE IS A REASON THE BAIKALS COME WITH AN XF CHOKE... most guns do not but this one patterns way better with it.

I have not yet patterned my gun with the heavier shot sizes but I am thinking it will be the same, a project for this week I guess.

Thanks................so I guess I'm ok with steel in the full and x full. How many
rounds have you fired in them with the steel.

I have only fired a hundred or two and mostly #6 I have shot some 2s and BBs as well.

I have a buddy in NS who shoots mostly 2 and BB from his Xfull and he loves it.

Honestly, I have never actually patterned my XF, I bought it after patterning my Mod and full only to find neither was quite tight enough. I have been very successful with it and I guess I should pattern it!

Do a google search... but basically you take a big old piece of paper and draw a circle on it with a dot in the middle.

Shoot it ata given range and see how many pellets are in the circle.

I actually just drew a flying duck and made photo copies of and pasted it on pages from a desk calendar. I think I shot mine at 20 yds but 30 might be a better range... I am sure there is a standard
