Hey Guys;

Well, I've owned several of these in the past & the last one I had I sold to a buddy who I introduced to water fowling. For some reason I thought I'd move over to a Winchester SX3 in 12ga also with a 3.5" chamber... I pretty much instantly regretted selling that MP-153 & even tried to buy it back from my buddy to no avail! LOL

Flash forward to my innocently browsing the EE, while the Missus was away camping & out of cell contact NO LESS... And I find a NOS synthetic 3.5" chambered 12ga 28" barrelled Baikal MP-153 with the box, manual & one full choke BUT missing the wrench & IC and Mod choke tubes... All you guys who know me well already know that any purchase like this requires a Permit from The Ministry of Wifely Approval OR it's followed up quickly with consequences like: You're taking me out to dinner etc... LOL! But, in my defence on this one, I couldn't contact her so: Get Out Of Jail FREE Card issued! LMAO

And with that, negotiations commence, I lament that it's not complete & we strike a deal. This was quickly followed by several calls around to find the missing IC and Mod choke tubes, which I located at Baikal Canada BUT have been unable to source the wrench. With the embargo against Russia, I may have to break down & have my local gunsmith make me one from flat steel. Unless of course any of you gentlemen have a lead for me as to where I might find one?

I'll have to find some range time to do the break in procedure, which they say in the manual is 100 rounds with heavier loads...

Anyhow, I did a cursory cleaning of the shotgun & snapped a pic. Glad to have one again, my old one was rock solid!

Cheers
Jay

Mine ran flawless except with black cloud 3.5" the hulls got hung up on ejection
Are you looking for the choke wrench or the gas adjustment wrench?
I'm looking for the gas adjustment wrench, which also doubles as the choke tube wrench...

My brother cracked the receiver on one of those not adjusting the gas system, not once, but twice. Second time the welder he knew refused to fix it. He blamed me for telling him to buy a pos Russian shotgun. I sent him the owners manual pdf. He never responded, or brought it up again. Wonder if he still has it. Completely forgot about it until I saw this thread.

My father blew the forend off one. It was hanging up with black cloud ammo so he kept cranking the piston
I replaced it and the action spring from a Turkish gun. Wasn't an exact match but it worked well

If you can't find one any machine shop should be able to make one from flat bar

It doesn't need to be rounded so any spanner type that fits will work
As for the choke tube part there's plenty of aftermarket wrenches. Or a coin

The extended OEM IC and Mod choke tubes arrived from Baikal Canada...

I put the IC in the shotgun, probably be the only one I use unless I decide to shoot a turkey with the MP-153 & then I'd use the factory Full choke.

Surprised more guys have not commented on this thread, been some time since the Baikals were brought into the country & I'm curious if guys are still enjoying reliable service from their MP-153 &/or SPR-453 shotguns???

Have had one as my go-to for all things bird hunting for more than a decade now. Thousands of shells through it and only two FTE’s with cheap trap loads in all those years. Incredible shotguns that should be on everyone’s “do not sell” list.
