i acquired a baikal semi auto mp 161 .22LR carbine recently..... there ate many threads on this beauty over here already. the reason of originating this thread is a quality of this rifle that has never been discussed before in any of threads, hence this thread

as envisaged in article 7.5.2 of the manual . " note that the barrel bore is not chrome-lined for ensuring high shooting accuracy" .....

now, nutz, lets discuss whether there are other rifles in .22LR calibre and in other calibres with a no chrome-linned barrel , and whether it is a plus or a negative point in this beauty............................. cheeeeeeers

I never heard of .22 with a chrome lined bore. Chrome lined bore have more utility in military rifle because the chrome bore is resistant to wear and corrosion althougt under certains circonstance can rust but at much slower rate. Non chrome bore are said to be more accurate because in a chrome plated bore, the chrome thickness is not alway even so the internal dimension can vary on the finished bore. Chrome bore are popular on shotgun too for wear and corrosion protection, but i dont think would be useful on a .22. Just my opinion, i can be wrong.
