does anyone have any answers I have a Baikal mp 153 semi and arfter I shot the first shot it will cycle a new shell in the chamber but the trigger hammer wont recock for the second shot thanks

Two out of five shotguns in my waterfowl hunting group are mp153s. great guns, require a good breaking in though. I'm guessing your gun isn't broken in yet. The specific problem could possibly be caused by the bolt not cycling full to the rear. If it will #### when you cycle it by hand that would prob confirm my guess. Test it by confirming that the gas system is set for the smallest loads, then use 3" or 3.5" hunting loads. It should cycle properly. Just needs to be broken in I think, they come tight fitting and fairly stiff, it will smooth out after a couple hundred cycles, you can either use heavier loads to get it to cycle during this time or just cycle it for a couple hours while you watch tv. If all else fails consult an expert;)

I have one MP153 too, have fed it with more than 100 heavy loads, and circled it by hand more than 1000 times I bet, it still just could not circle target loads.

I adjusted the gas down on mine slightly shortly after I got it to cycle Federal Top Gun 1 1/8OZ loads for sporting clays. I couldn't wait long enough to break it in by the book. However I tried a buddy's Winchester shells from Crappy Tire which were same load and shot size and they jammed up every time.

I thought I was broken in but alas I am not. Read the manual and follow the break in procedure and I imagine you will be fine.

arwho, is the gas system adjusted? Some semis hate those super light target loads, They'll usually work fine even with just a little more power, like a 2.75" hunting load.

I am an avid MP153 owner. I keep seeing guys having problems with the MP 153 and super light target loads. Come on, this gun is a heavy work horse designed to handle the stresses of 3 1/2" magnum loads. It CAN handle 1 1/8" heavy target and field loads but I must admit I bought mine to be a down and dirty heavy water fowler and I don't care if it doesn't cycle 1oz or 7/8 oz target loads. It handles most loads better than most 1500.00 semis out there. I say give the gun it's due, break it in properly and don't be surprised it does not cycle everything you put through it. It is good to see some seasoned MP153 owners who advocate proper break ins and suitable ammo.

I have not adjusted the gas system yet, cause it is said that after breaking in, it can circle target loads without any problem, you can adjust it only if you need to shoot supper light loads or supper heavy loads.

Mine will cycle everything I put in it. Light loads to heavy 3 1/2"

I shoot target bulk packs from Canadian tire etc, slugs, challenger slugs, 3" rem slugs. It eats everything.

I have never adjusted the gas on it (I've read lots of problematic issues from adjusting)

I did however put around 100 combined heavy loads (7/12") and some slugs through it to 'work it in' when I first bought it.
