I'm new to shotgunning, but quite enjoy trap and sporting clays.
I'm shopping on a budget and looking for an Over and under.
I don't know what I want, but the price of a new Baikal O/U perks my interest. But, on the other hand, as my old man always says "You get what you pay for".
Anybody have one or know anything about them - good or bad??
Thanks for your time.

Barley Sandwich Man:

Good solid entry level gun.
Built strong, but not too pretty ! ( Like comrade Russian Woman ? )
Would recommend the IZH - 27EM 1C ....
29-1/2" ported barrels, choke tubes ( supplied, AND after-market Colonnials fit ) Well shaped stock (some even have RH palm swells) wide target type rib, front & middle beads, single selective trigger & ejectors. All the required stuff. Stock is rather plain walnut, with amateurish checkering.
Quite shootable, but do yourself a favour... go to a good gunsmith immediately when you get it - and get him to fit either an R3 or Kick-Eze or Pachmayr Old English Decelerator pad to it before you shoot it. The supplied "Rooski" pad is quite a piece of "Do-do" and entirely unsuitable. Brush a little boiled linseed oil into the checkering with an old tooth brush - it's left "raw" as it comes, and by doing so, you will improve the finish while protecting the checkering from picking up a lot of dirt & crud in it
