ive been eying up baikals side by side rifles on a couple of sites and was wondering if anyone knows a good place to get one and or the price of them. was also looking at their single barrel 9.3x74

Marksmen Guns and Sports have 1 30-06 SxS left. I bought the other and so far love it ! I did give it to the gunsmith, Mr. Martini at the Calgary gun show to do something with the front sights, however. They work as they are now ... but he had some funky rebuilt (from a Baikal double barrel shotgun .. it was labelled a 45/90 but some dude there said that it was some kind of 458ish type gun ..) there with the express sights and big ivory type bead .. Man, but that was nice .. I doubt if he is going to do the express sights on mine .. but mill out the back sight and replace the front would be O.K. The gentleman did not seem overly impressed with my $1,200 rifle .. I noticed that he had a very nice Krieghoff SxS for a few bucks less than $10,000 ... Oh, well .. my wife wanted more than me ... but I'm what she got !!;)
 
I was in Victoria this weekend and dropped into Island outfitters. They had one SxS left in 30'06. I have to admit I was really taken with the gun, the overall length was shorter than I expected, and the wood was better than I thought it would be. Other than the sights which I think would be easy enough to replace I found it really stiff and hard to open, I'm not sure if it can be taken apart and polished but I would not want to have to reload in a hurry. I almost talked myself into buying it but I'm going to try to hold out for a 45/70.
