bait for hunting coyotes

are you allowed to bait for coyotes?

I have a banting rooster that crows like theres no tommorrow that would probably do the trick:evil:

I wonder if what the rooster would think of me putting him in the middle of a field in a livestock cage with a mirror:evil:

I think my wife would kill me though as she is the Chicken whisperer:rolleyes:

Get yourself a good call.

My 33 predator call, P.S. OLT Co. call from Pekin, ILL has bamboozeled many a yoddle dogs within shooting distance. :D

I save the rib cage and bones once I've butchered and boned out my deer. Freeze he whole lot solid in a bannana box and put this in the open in an area frequented by coyote. Sit on it for a couple mornings or evenings. Good for a shot or two. Ravens and magpie will clean it up quick though.

I've heard of using the remains of deer and freezing them with water in 5 gallon pails to make scrap sickles. Apparently it takes them a while to chew through the frozen ice and bones so it lasts a little longer.

Yup, deadpiles work great if you are in farm country!:D

If not, go to your local wildlife office and arrange to get some roadkilled critters.

Definite +1. I have a 100+ kilometer commute (each way) to work, so have no problem picking up one or two roadkills in preparation for a weekend predator hunt. Works great.

Can get you some funny looks from other traffic, though...or from someone who looks into your truckbed at the job site...

I also find that for crows, some ketchup or even red paint squirted around the bait can get them really worked up. I got the idea from birdwatchers who use it to attract rare gulls i.e. Ivory Gull, if one is known/suspected to be in the vicinity.

Freezing scraps to the ground works well too. Ive heard of guys finding dead rabbits and pouring water over them and hunted them for a few weeks.
