We always hear how people feed deer or bears, coyotes etc., but never about moose. Is there something that you could feed them or put out to attract them like deer? What about the mineral licks with molasses or something similar, has anyone done this with any success?, curious to know. There was a wildlife centre south of Gravenhurst ON that had a bull moose there and his favourite treat was bananas.

Get some Cow Moose estrus and wait for the rut.
Dowse yourself in the estrus and head out calling like a love sick moose and be ready for some serious action.
Seriously not a good idea as you are likely to get stomped to death.
Why bait them, they are easy to shoot if you do your homework before the season starts.

Interesting question. I've been hunting moose for well over 35 years (Deer as well) and have never even considered baiting them - I bait the crap out of my deer stand, but the thinking there is - you want to get the deer used to the fact that if they come "here" they will get an easy meal - that takes a bit of time to develop.

I do use scents now for moose (used to just "go moose hunting" back in the 70's with Rem Core Lokt bullets (didn't need Mono's or uber-bonded boat-tails, and you wore a red checked jacket and rubber boots (no blaze orange and gortex)- and your moose tag included a bear tag, because bears were just "pests" back then), both liquid and the smoke sticks when "sitting a watch", but also do a lot of stalking for moose - they are not as skiddish as deer so if you find some fresh tracks you can track them down and they will let you get pretty close before they even really take notice.

But maybe part of it is that my deer stand is 40 minutes from home - can get out and "tend it" pretty much year round if I want.

Where I hunt moose is a 10 hour drive followed by a 5 hour train ride - so not going up a week or two before the opener to "put out some feed" to maybe get them coming to a particular spot. Maybe if my circumstances were different (??)

In B.C., apparently the only thing you can't bait for is Bear and migratory birds. I had an archery tree stand set up and I wanted to move some apples from a tree about 500yds away, closer to my stand area. Anyway, when I called the game department in Victoria, that's what they told me.

In french "mare" = mother= cow, lost in translation but not hard to to figure out ???:bigHug:

A mère is a mother in French, not a mare. A mare is a female horse which they use to collect the urine when she's in heat and sell as a moose attractant.

Don't know about moose but you can for bear.

From personal observation cutting firewood and stories from a few hunters birch branches attract them. I have had my brush piles upended to get the birch branches that were under spruce and fir bows.
Illegal for moose that is, bear - go ahead. My bear licence is still in the mail and of course I was a hundred yards from a rather large one today. Bear crap everywhere. Nobody hunting them anymore?
