Anybody shooting this gun? How does it work any problems. I'm concidering buying this gun, a buddy of mine has one but only has 3 boxs of shells thru it and I'm wondering how it works with more? The price kinda makes me wonder.

I was going to buy one these this past spring and did a lot of research. Mostly very positive.

I ended up getting a super deal on a brand new Beretta ES100, 28" syn., for less than $700 so I couldn't pass it up.

Very happy with the ES but I think the MP153 is more than ok (never shot one though).

My buddy bought his last year for $350 new at a dealer and another dealer was selling them for the same in a town 200 km away. This week I've been looking at prices online and they are $600+ I haven't called the dealers yet but I'm assuming they have the $600+ pricing now. Whats the deal with this? Did they have low pricing because they where relatively new around here?

If they are $600+ I'm getting a Stoeger 2000 instead as I don't shoot 3.5" shells and they are lighter than Remington. Any reason I shouldn't go with the Stoeger?

Recommend go for the MP-153......don't believe you would regret the decision. The links is an old one and has done it's rounds on this forum earlier.....

The MP-153 was first imported to Canada about 2 years ago. The introductory price at that time was $ 575. It has gone up a bit since then.

The $350 price for a brand new one is well below dealer cost

Incidentaly, that is the typical price for that firearm south of the border (in US$). In the US The Baikal MP-153 is imported and distributed by Remington as the Remington SPR-453 http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/SPR_models/SPR453_autoloader.asp

Just like you, I considered the Stoeger before deciding to go with the MP-153 (after a lot of research). And I am very happy with my decision.

The Turkish made Stoeger 2000 is based on Benelli's inertia system minus the recoil reducing features. Your shoulder will take a beating with the 3" shells you plan to use.

The gas operated MP-153 has a smaller felt recoil.

Did you think about the new Mossberg 930,it shoots 2 3/4 and 3" and they are a hot item this year! I called SIR today, the price is $544.99 and they are sold out with 15 on back order and I'm #9 on the waiting list. You can put in an order with no money down and you can cancel at anytime even when they call you to let you know that the gun has arrived;thats pretty good customer service in my books!

After I posted last I've read plenty of cycling and misfire problems with the Stoeger, this was on a Benilli web forum! So I'm shying away from that and I've also read a few bad things about Mossberg's although not a very much and I'm sure these are just a few bad experiances with this gun. NO that a look around alot the MP153 seams the best gun under $700 and it shoots 2.75 to 3.5 and I now from handling my buddies abit its fairly light, with I find a problem with the Remington 11-87. MP153 it is, now to see if I can find it at $350 so I don't have to listen to Martin bug me about telling me I should have gotten one last year like he did.

Mp-153

I love mine..it hunts, shoots skeet, trap and clays. Easy to take apart and clean. I just cant say anything bad about it. Mine has been rock solid.

Go with the MP-153.

I bouhgt mine a few months ago and I am very happy with it.

As I mentioned in another forum, it is the only shotgun that didn't have any cycling problems, misfires etc. while I was at the club where I shoot clays.

The other ones were B-guns, all had problems. You kept seeing these fellows with sheepish grins when their $1,500+ shotguns wouldn't work properly.

I guess some shooters do not take care of their beauties.

Let us know what you choose.
