Bakelite stock SKS value??

65 views,nobody knows??
Not a surplus/refurb,this a new issue rifle in as new condition,3(or 4?) sided spike bayonet, excellent bluing,Bakelite stock/handgaurd,no marks or scuffs....nicest SKS I've ever seen actually.
Is Bakelite stock extremely rare(collector value?)or is this just the first I've ever seen/heard tell of?Hard to find info/value from online research, any ideas??

Are you referring to the red plastic stock - sometimes referred to as a 'jungle stock' ?
Yes I've seen it on 'murican sites called plastic, fibreglass, plastic,Chinese jungle stock, and Bakelite.
It's a reddish/brown color.
Popular consensus on USA websites is skeptical if they are actually Bakelite,as bakelite was pretty much obsolete and expensive by the time SKS were mfrd?

Definitely need pics.
Sorry,no pics of this specimen, but found identical pics online.

Seems they go for $350-$500 in USA,but SKS are more $$ there then canada anyhow,no??

$20 or so, I'm dead serious

They were sold on commercial SKS's sold for the civi market, I have seen no proof of them being used by any military.

Ok thx,so rare-ish stock doesn't add much value I guess....but this is complete rifle in as new/non-issued condition, seller asking $300. Your reply confirms what I've found on USA gun sites, lots of debate whether material is Bakelite or something else(fibreglass, plastic etc?)??
Ask in USA for these is $350-$500,but again, pretty sure any SKS sells for much more stateside then in Canada?Cant find anything similar to compare going price in Canuckistan??
Was hoping maybe I'd stumbled unto a '53 Corvette under a tarp in a barn,guess not,think I'll pass,lol.

FWIW,I've lost interest in this rifle,sooooo....for any SKS fans/collectors interested,it's for sale on consignment at Wolverine Guns&Tackle,Red Deer,AB for more info,Armory, mfr date, pics etc....it looks shiny new in display cabinet??

You can still buy the stocks from Liberty Tree gun parts and Sarco had them earlier in the year.I read they were popular in Vietnam as they could be oiled and buried for months with no wood to rot.....Don't know how study the stock is used as a club...Harold

I've seen these stocks for sale on eBay and Amazon thru my research last few days for $20-$60 USD.
Most of the 'murican gun sites where I was able to find any info at all suggested $20 and up at gun shows etc. Also, again, lots of debate/skepticism as to whether the material is actually Bakelite or fibreglass being incorrectly touted as Bakelite? The consensus seems to be that Bakelite was pretty much obsolete and far more expensive to produce then alternative materials by the time the SKS was introduced, with skepticism that it's probably not actually Bakelite?
Honestly, I don't care if it's Bakelite or fibreglass or something else, not worth arguing over IMHO,it's a unique and clean looking SKS and relatively rare as SKS stocks are concerned.
I'd say it's well worth $300 as a very clean and new looking SKS when you consider beat and banged up milsurp refurbs routinely retail for $200-$250+, and if I wanted another SKS I would have snapped it up,as it's the nicest condition SKS I've ever seen personally, mind you I'm not an SKS authority nor collector, and only browsed at it thru display cabinet glass.

Good thing i bought then:). Called and spoke to them never fired from the original owner . I've spent more on a dirty Russian in a lipstick stock so why not. I've tried ordering a few of the eBay stocks and nobody wants to ship to Canada anymore
